For those of you who can appreciate the "good old days" when you would have to run a 7MB download overnight and hope nobody trips over the telephone extension cable running down the stairs to your 56k modem, I'm sure you'll have remembered playing browser MMOs.
In a moment of nostalgia, I've decided Pipe3 should have its own browser-based MMORPG! This is great if you are stuck at work and can't fire up a game client, or perhaps you want something to casually do in the background whilst you're at your desk.
Announcing: Legend of the Green Dragon! This was hugely popular when I was at school, and I used to run quite a sizeable community around this game. Who will be the first to slay the dragon? See you in Degolberg!
Update: I've tidied things up a bit such as spreading out buildings between the various villages, fixed the potions and also got rid of the lump of text appearing at the top of the screen in some of the villages.
Pipe3 Arcade is a great way to challenge other members of the Pipe3 community and try to get the highest score out of our members on some casual browser games! Select Arcade from the top to play. If your high score is beaten, you'll receive a message so you can dive back in there to reclaim your place as champion and your champions badge on the forums.
I'm going to add more and more games over the next few days (I'm open to recommendations!) and also some unique rewards. Playing games on the arcade also helps support the site by generating ad revenue which goes directly to keeping our servers online!
I have some good news for those folks who like to play DayZ. Over the past couple of days, I have been conducting some fairly extensive research. As a result, I believe I now have the capability to effectively block hackers from the server.
I will also be recruiting a couple of administrators if I can to help police the Chernarus streets. Any hacker reports will be instantly relayed to them, and they will have the ability to check character data, BattlEye logs and logs generated by our custom scripts to determine whether or not the player is genuine.
A new DayZ server is going to be launched, completely reconfigured, with the following features:
A Pipe3-developed custom anti-hack script which executes on the client, scanning for all injected scripts and menus. Any detections and the player will be instantly kicked and banned.
A suite of admin utilities allowing administrators to easily police the server.
Teamspeak server for players to join to request admin assistance, or to chat with friends.
Server restarts every 6 hours.
Vehicle respawns on each server restart.
Base building features.
Anti-combat logging - the player will stay in the game for 60 seconds after logging out.
The main Minecraft server has been updated to 1.5.2. This is a Beta Craftbukkit build, so as usual expect the odd bug (although I do not think that the changeset is particularly major). You are safe to update your clients. Please report any issues in this thread.
